| In 1979 the band moved rehearsals to
DISLEY METHODIST CHURCH and replaced the drum machine with ex-NOISE
and sometime LIFE ON EARTH drummer ANDREW CHAMBERS. |
VOID only played a handful of gigs,
the most memorable being at NEW MILLS YOUTH CLUB with HELEN from
The VIOLATORS on vocals; SMUGGLERS NITECLUB in STOCKPORT with GAIL
from LIFE ON EARTH singing and again at DISLEY METHODIST CHURCH
with LOUISE on vocal duties. |

| The band discontinued the ploughing
of its particular furrow in the summer of 1986 when Tony developed
manic depression (guffaw!!) at the closing of the HACIENDA in MANCHESTER.
|
VOID/INDEX could and should have had more success but for the fact that the very
thing that made them stand out was also the very thing that held them back. Using
different vocalists may have been an original way of doing things but not having a
regular and reliable member meant that the band was always dependent on guest
vocalists having time available and ultimately this proved to be the band's undoing. |
