Former NOISE drummer
Andrew Chambers joined as LIFE ON EARTH were becoming popular, playing
gigs with other local bands such as VOID, CURSE/SILENT PRAYER (whose
guitarist Jim was always a supporter of the band) and BLADDER x3.
Many gigs were played in STOCKPORT, MANCHESTER and LONDON as well
as the NEW MILLS/DISLEY area. One show at the RED LION supposedly
broke the house attendance record - no mean feat considering the
pub had been a live venue for over 10 years! |

The band officially disbanded at the
end of 1982 after Phil & Paul had a major fight on Xmas
Eve. Although Paul & Chaney (who returned to VOID) were replaced
by very competent musicians, the moment and the spark was gone. |
In 1983 Paul (guitars
backing vox), Gail (lead vox) and Neil McLennan ('Mackie' - former
BLITZ/MINISTERS OF THE GROOVE bassist) recorded a four track demo
entitled 'THE PSYCHEDELIC JAZZ E.P.' The demo was produced by none
other than LONDON bound Bill Sykes.

In 1983/4 Paul and Neil (or Mackie as the former BLITZ bassist was known) tried to
form a new band, co-writing about a dozen songs and doing a
thrash cover of the STONES' 'Play with Fire'. They auditioned the
SKELETAL FAMILY's drummer but it progressed no further. Also in
'84 Paul & Gail also guested on a CRYSTAL'S HOUSE demo with Anne Marie.
Gail Heathcote joined MINISTERS OF THE GROOVE who went on to support
LONDON BEAT (Am in a New York Subway) and do a major tour (inc.
M/cr APOLLO and KENTISH TOWN COUNTRY CLUB supporting SIMPLY RED.) Gail
later sang with a band called SOMETHING IN THE BAG. |
